With a focus on community-centered recovery, we have welcomed experts from other disaster-shaken cities to learn from their experiences. Responses to the Christchurch, New Zealand earthquakes and hurricanes in New Orleans and Houston all share certain common characteristics. Chief among them is the recognition that the most meaningful and robust recoveries are bottom-up efforts that welcome involvement from all sectors and individuals.
